Official Playstation Magazine spoke with Pawel Mielniczuk, Artistic Director of Characters for CD Projekt RED. In the conversation, the head shared new details about transport in Cyberpunk 2077: how many cars there will be, what features certain models have and “crystal dome technology”.
A total of 29 basic car models are implemented in the upcoming creation of CD Projekt RED, but many modernized models can be found in the vastness of Night City and beyond. Improved vehicles have unique features. For example, the nomadic technique is equipped with anti-mine detectors that help to find the bombs hidden in the Wasteland.
The upgrades pre-installed on the car affect many parameters: speed, handling, driver protection, and so on. Some of the modernized vehicles are equipped with “crystal dome technology”, which means they have no windows and read their surroundings using infrared sensors and other devices.
Melnychuk added: “Basically [such vehicles] have LCD screens and armor on the outside. Therefore, when you get into the car, it is dark inside, but after a moment the lights come on. There is also a cool effect where the digital grid disappears and [the player] looks through the LCD screen, where all kinds of interference are possible. “
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on November 19, 2020 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and GeForce Now. Later, the game will appear on Google Stadia and on next-generation consoles.
