GeForce RTX 3080 reviews published. How much faster is it really RTX 2080?
So, Nvidia lifted the ban on publishing reviews of the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition video card. We will publish our own review a little later, but in the meantime you can take a look at the results of other thematic resources.
There are many different results, but we will give diagrams of several of them for clarity. The Videocardz website has a list of other review sites – you can check out any if you want.
So, wasn’t Nvidia tricking us when it talked about doubling the RTX 2080? If you remember what we were told that the new product would be faster “up to two times”, then, of course, there could be no deception. But in reality, a twofold increase practically does not occur. On average, the RTX 3080 is about 65-75% faster than the RTX 2080 at 4K resolution, depending on the game, and the RTX 2080 Ti is outperformed by an average of 30%, which is an excellent result considering the prices. It’s also worth noting that the RTX 3080 has a 99th percentile higher than the RTX 2080 Ti average, which is impressive too.
As for power consumption, the RTX 3080 really eats a lot – 300-370 watts under load, depending on its type. In comparison, the RTX 2080 requires about 220W and the RTX 2080 Ti requires about 280W. At the same time, in games, on average, the novelty consumes only 30 watts more than the RTX 2080 Ti, so no disaster happened.
We also note that reviews of non-standard cards from various manufacturers will be published tomorrow. It will be very interesting to compare the efficiency of Nvidia’s partner cooling systems with the reference cooler, which, according to some reports, costs $ 150 per RTX 3080.
