Micron Technology has shipped the Crucial P5 series solid state drives in the M.2 form factor. The devices use PCI Express 3.0 x4 with NVMe 1.3 protocol and are available in versions ranging from 250 GB to 2 TB. SSDs are already available in many overseas stores.

In the Crucial P5 drives, the American chipmaker used 96-layer 3D NAND TLC memory chips and a proprietary controller. A small DRAM buffer is also provided.


The maximum sequential read speed is 3400 MB / s, and the sequential write speed is 3000 MB / s. The level of performance when working with random blocks reaches 430 thousand / 500 thousand IOPS (read / write). Brief characteristics and prices of new products are shown in the table.
