Oracle is considering buying TikTok

Oracle has already contacted several US investors with stakes in ByteDance, including General Atlantic and Sequoia Capital.

ByteDance and Oracle did not comment on the announcement of the talks.

Earlier this month, it became known that Twitter approached ByteDance, expressing interest in acquiring the US division of TikTok. However, Microsoft is still considered the most likely buyer.

In the current context, buying TikTok usually means transactions in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Microsoft is also seriously considering taking control of TikTok’s global operations outside of these countries, according to whistleblowers for the Financial Times. Microsoft is particularly interested in buying TikTok in Europe and India, where the app was recently banned by the Indian government over tensions with China, the newspaper said. But ByteDance opposes the sale of any assets outside the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
