Games for the PlayStation 5 are significantly more expensive than before. Dutch retailer already makes pre-order for a number of PS5 games possible.
The Sony PlayStation 5 has been discussed for months. Meanwhile, Sony has announced both the design and all hardware details of the new game console. A new DualSense wireless controller has also been announced, as well as a range of new accessories, including a DualSense charging station, an HD camera and the Pulse 3D wireless headset. The launch of a new game console also includes a series of new games. Dozens of new PS5 games have already been announced.

Think of popular games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Gran Turismo 7. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Sackboy a big adventure, Deathloop and Godfall are also exclusive PS5 games that will be released in the fall of 2020. Although a lot is already known about the new PlayStation 5 and the improved game performance – including a high 4K @ 120fps resolution, the integration of an SSD, hardware ray-tracing and 3D Audio – no prices have yet been mentioned. Not for the game console itself, but also not for the accessories and games.
PlayStation 5 games are getting 25% more expensive
Presumably the PlayStation 5 price is set at € 499. For the PS5 Digital Edition without an optical disc tray, the suggested retail price is likely to be $ 399. That would give the Digital Edition exactly the same price as the PS4 seven years ago. The big money is therefore not so much earned with the sale of the console itself, the sale of games and subscriptions is much more attractive financially.
Many PlayStation 4 games have been put on the market for a price of € 59.99. Some games were ten more expensive, others slightly cheaper. However, it seems strongly that the PlayStation 5 games will become considerably more expensive. Online there is talk of a price of € 74.99. That is a price increase of no less than 25% !!
The well-known Dutch online retailer Bol.com now has several games online. Think Horizon: Forbidden West and Grand Theft Auto 5, as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Godfall. All these new PS5 games are offered for a price of € 74.99. Although you cannot buy these games yet, you can already place a preorder reservation.
Sony itself has not yet confirmed prices, yet this price seems to be real. All the more so because games on the PS5 will be designed in an even more extensive and detailed way. There is therefore considerably more time in developing a game, which also makes it more expensive.

Sony PS5 backwards compatible
The good news is then again; for the first time the PlayStation is backwards compatible. This means that you can play the vast majority of games from the PS4 on the PS5. More than 4000 PS4 games have been released, the Top 100 Best games have already been made backwards compatible.
In addition, Sony has officially announced that testing continues unabated to make the vast majority of all PS4 games compatible with the new game console. Ideal, because this way you can continue to use your built-up game portfolio with the PlayStation 5. Although many wonder whether the compatibility is further expanded for games from the PS, PS2 and PS3, this does not seem to be the case for the time being.
